Let me confess something – I’m terrible at platformers. I can barely make Mario jump without falling into a pit. But then I discovered Run 4, and suddenly I was falling into pits in outer space. Over and over again. And somehow, I loved every minute of it.
Run 4 puts you in control of a little alien who’s sprinting through space tunnels full of holes. Your only job is to jump and stay alive. The trick? The tunnel walls are also platforms, and gravity bends to your will. So instead of thinking “forward,” you have to think “around.” The game turns the idea of running into an interdimensional puzzle.
There are two main modes – Adventure Mode, which offers structured levels, and Infinite Mode, which tests how long you can survive before inevitably missing a jump. The controls are tight: use the arrow keys to move, spacebar to jump. That’s it. But mastering them takes time, because your perspective keeps flipping.
What hooked me wasn’t just the challenge – it was the satisfaction of finally conquering a level that seemed impossible five minutes ago. The soundtrack adds a nice rhythm, and the minimalist space setting somehow makes the chaos feel calm. It’s almost meditative once you get used to the constant near-death experiences.
I won’t lie – it can be frustrating. There are moments when your brain can’t quite process which wall is up anymore. But that’s the magic of Run 4: it keeps you on your toes, and when you finally nail a jump sequence, you feel like a physics genius.
If you’ve ever wanted to see how good your reflexes really are, this game is your test. It made me appreciate gravity — and taught me never to trust the floor again.
